Phasmid is more than a rental car agency. We are part travel agency, part rental gear business, a good bit of a concierge service, and we rent vehicles as well. We are your one stop shop for Montana self-drive adventures.  Will Casella, founder of Phasmid, came up with the idea while on a fishing and camping road trip in New Zealand. He had become so attached to his purchased and outfitted 1983 Toyota Landcruiser that he couldn't bear to sell her at the end of the trip. Figuring that there are certainly more intrepid global fish-bums like himself, someone must be willing to rent "The Hippo" versus having to absorb the cost (and risk) of purchasing and outfitting their own fish-mobile. Some days even a blind squirrel finds a nut, and the the concept of Phasmid was born.  Furthered by his personal dislike for the rental vehicle process in the US, Will pursued the outfitted vehicle concept coupled with the conviction that renting a car does not have to be a bad experience. In August 2010, Phasmid officially opened its doors for business.
